What is Reiki?
Reiki is the underlying force behind
every living being. It is the essential substance of living beings that
keeps life in motion - the cosmic vibratory energy that is omnipresent in
the Universe, structuring and sustaining all things. Therefore, in the
broadest sense, Reiki is life itself.
As infants and children we are more open
in our thinking and also our own energy centres and energy channels are in
contact with the surrounding energy field. But as we grow older, our
environment, conditioning and intellectual/mental activities make us less
and less aware of our inherent connection to the energy field.
How does Reiki work?
The Universal Energy at its different
frequencies can be accessed by anyone.
As a natural healing art which can be
applied on oneself in self-treatment and also in service to others, it is
of such a nature that it can be incorporated into one's daily activities,
being ever present through touch. To heal, to honour and express love.
Just as electricity can be transformed
into heat and light by different instruments, different vibrations of the
Universal Energy Field taken as a spectrum can manifest in different forms
of energy in different body systems.
Every cell in the body absorbs Reiki. It
is absorbed in amounts necessary to bring about energetic balance and
flows to wherever there is a deficiency in energy. It removes energy
"blockages" or stagnant energy, and balances the energy centres
(also known as chakras).
When energy is flowing in a balanced way
both mind and body becomes relaxed. As your mind and body become deeply
relaxed, all the organs and body systems start to function better.
Healing
Commonly experienced effects of Reiki
include the feelings of relaxation and peace, rapid healing of cuts, burns,
bruises, sprains, and relief from headaches and pain.
Healing occurs not only at the physical
level, but also the mental and emotional levels, creating a feeling of
mental well-being and sometimes even radical changes in attitudes. People
who start by being rigid and mentally inflexible become more sensitive and
mentally pliant.
How does one learn Reiki?
There are many schools of Reiki active
today. Reiki is not learned. However, various techniques can be learned
for maximum benefit in the application.
In its simplest form it requires one to
merely place one's hands on oneself or another, regardless of where or
when. It can be done at anytime.
At present there are three lineages of
Reiki. The first is the lineage of Hawayo Takata, the second the
lineage of the Venerable Seiji Takamori, and the third that of Watanabe. A
fourth one emerging is that of Tatsumi.
Levels of training
Reiki-Jin-Kei -Do is taught at three
levels.
Reiki 1st Degree:
The focus is on treating the physical and energy bodies. A simple
meditation is taught in preparation for deeper levels as the student
progresses to the level of studying the EnerSense Buddho System.
After a period of practice and keeping a
journal on observing the mind, the student may progress to the second
level, if they wish.
Reiki 2nd Degree:
A further attunement is received enabling the use of the Reiki symbols,
which have an inherent power to help amplify energy for different purposes
such as distant healing, working to bring about tranquillity for oneself
and in one's environment. Meditation practice is also deepened and further
treatment techniques are taught.
Reiki Mastery:
After a period of further study the student may wish to embark on a study
programme to become a Reiki Master - to aid them on their path of personal
growth or to actively pass on the gift of Reiki to others.
After a period of active mastery one may
undertake to teach the EnerSense Buddho System of Healing and become an
EnerSense Buddho Teacher.
EnerSense Buddho System
The Buddho System of healing evolved
directly from the original method of Mind-Body Healing by Shakyamuni - the
Historical Buddha. It was simplified through the centuries and handed down
orally from monk to monk, then recorded in the sutras. Dr Usui, the
"modern day father" of
Reiki, simplified the Buddho System and
called it Reiki.
The Buddho System of Healing as we teach
it today has been handed down directly from Lamas in Tibet/Nepal to the
Venerable
Takamori. It has three components which have to be practiced in proper
balance:
Meditative Practices
using mantras, yantras, symbols, special meditative breathing exercises,
higher stage meditations using breath and achieving dhyanic states for
healing.
Healing Practices:
self-healing using Buddho meditation symbols, mantras, yantras and marmas.
Facilitating the healing of others using the same techniques.
Chi-Nadi Moving Meditation:
a set of exercises performed in slow relaxed movements, exercising the
physical body as well as the subtle energy body (aura) with all its nadis
(channels). It is a self-healing technique in its own right.
The origin and deeper meaning of the
Reiki symbols are studied in detail. As in Reiki, the Buddho is taught in
stages. The student is assessed for readiness to continue after completion
of the 1st Stage. Study of the Buddho system may be
embarked on after completion of Reiki 2nd Degree.
To the Global Reiki Community
If you feel connected, you are welcome to
study the system - as passed down by the Venerable Seiji Takamori directly to
Dr
Ranga Premaratna, our lineage bearer - at a reduced rate in order to go
beyond Reiki and study The EnerSense Buddho System.
The Swartberg Mountains at Prince Albert is a 'sacred
space' and the purified air and tranquil surroundings make it easier for
us to connect with the sky-like nature of the mind and Everything that is.
You become more receptive to your deeper self in the communion with
nature.
